BALTIMORE, MDMEDNAX, Inc.—one of the largest national medical groups in the country, specializing in neonatal, anesthesia, teleradiology, maternal-fetal, and pediatric physician subspecialty services—and Med-IQ—the nation’s most-respected CME provider—have created a new online educational series, Anesthesia Clinician Education: Updates From the Front Lines.

This 2-part CME-certified series was created to improve clinicians’ knowledge of best practices for the use of local and regional anesthetics in the perioperative setting. Program content was designed to educate anesthesiologists, anesthetists, physician assistants, and perioperative nurses who work in this setting.

The current healthcare environment makes it increasingly difficult for doctors and hospitals to optimally manage patient care, remain current on the latest procedures, and use the most effective therapies in the safest manner possible. As an accredited provider of continuing medical and nursing education, MEDNAX sees the importance of developing online education to support clinicians. We were glad to have the opportunity to work with Med-IQ’s content development and online learning experts to deliver this exceptional educational experience,” said Katherine Grichnik, MD, Vice President, Quality and Safety at MEDNAX.

Two of the four activities in the series focus on the use of sustained-release liposomal bupivacaine, describing pharmacologic properties and appropriate use, indications and contraindications, and potential future uses in postsurgical analgesia. The other two activities provide a refresher on the use of local anesthetics and regional anesthesia blocks by reviewing the indications, appropriate uses, and safety issues relevant to perioperative nurses and physician assistants who may be administering and monitoring these agents.

Healthcare in the United States is evolving toward a more-focused approach on quality of care and improvement in patient outcomes. As an organization, Med-IQ is dedicated to ensuring that medical education is at the core of this movement by providing accessible CME/CE interventions that are timely, practice-based, effective, and relevant,

says Catherine Mullaney, MHA, Vice President of Learning Solutions.

At Med-IQ, we have expanded our service offerings to partner with outside organizations, like MEDNAX, to provide top-quality educational interventions to clinicians across the country.

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accredited MEDNAX with distinction.
