The Director, Accreditation is responsible for ensuring that the planning and development of the education accredited by Med-IQ is conducted in compliance with all applicable essential criteria, standards, and guidelines (ie, ACCME Essential Areas and Elements, ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, ACPE regulations, and ANCC nursing continuing professional development [NCPD] criteria). The Director will collaborate with Med-IQ’s lead nurse planner on the oversight of activities that include nurses in the target audience.
Key responsibilities:
- Direct all Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Activities
- Ultimate authority over the organization’s CPD Program (clinical and risk management/patient safety activities)
- Ultimate authority for decisions on eligibility of an activity for certification.
- Responsible for decisions regarding designation of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit, ANCC NCPD credit, and ACPE credit for the organization’s activities.
- Responsible for ultimate decision regarding the number of credits for which an educational activity is certified.
- Oversee adherence to and documentation of:
- Regulatory compliance with all relevant accrediting body criteria and the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education.
- Selection of educational platforms/methods based on adult learning principles and learning styles.
- Planning processes to link identified educational needs/gaps to desired results.
- Evaluation systems.
- CME/CE Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Joint providership policies and procedures.
- Oversee the development of all CPD activities for physicians, NPs/PAs, nurses, and pharmacists, to ensure that they are in compliance with ACCME Essential Areas and Elements, ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, ANCC NCPD accreditation criteria, and ACPE guidelines, as appropriate.
- Ultimate authority over the organization’s CPD Program (clinical and risk management/patient safety activities)
- Ensure the timely submission of the Annual Report to the appropriate accrediting body outlining the size and scope of the organization’s CME/CE program utilizing ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) and ANCC’s Nursing Accreditation Reporting System (NARS)
- Collaborate with the Lead Nurse Planner on compliance oversight over nursing-focused activities offered for ANCC or CBRN credit
- Manage the Accreditation Department Employees
- Coordinate the training of new hires on accreditation policies and procedures
- Direct Reaccreditation Processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; nursing degree not required but highly desirable
- A minimum of 5 years of experience with an accreditation or credentialing organization
- Established awareness and comprehension of accreditation guidelines and the regulatory environment with a commitment to upholding the highest standards in developing and implementing accredited activities
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult education learning principles
- Experience successfully managing an accredited CME program is preferred
- Experience as a volunteer surveyor for an accrediting body is preferred
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
