This course looks at the interplay between a safety culture and a just culture, recognizing that the two concepts are intertwined. For errors or near misses to be reported by staff, a non-punitive environment is necessary, as is the recognition that errors are due to system issues and individual actions in response to these issues. Methods to respond to behaviors that do not support safe and just cultures are explored, and case studies are used to illustrate principles.
