The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protects the privacy and security of an individual’s health information and gives patients the right to access and suggest modifications to their health information. This course examines HIPAA elements and uses case studies to illustrate areas where protected health information (PHI) may be exposed, placing healthcare professionals and organizations at increased risk for allegations of HIPAA violations. The course also discusses anticipated changes to HIPAA and evolving issues due to the rapid expansion of technology.
